Existing Interactivity : Art Installations

Lozano Hemmer :

Wave function:

Described as a "kinetic sculpture" this interactive art installation by Lazano Hemmer uses the movements of the visitors in the gallery to move the chairs like a wave. The sculpture can consist of 50-100 white chairs that use pistons to move up and down.

As the visitor walks past the chairs they are picked up by a camera in the ceiling, this camera then tracks their movement and raises the chair nearest to them and then this creates a ripple effect throughout the other chairs.

I think this interactive kinetic sculpture works really well. The repetition and movement of the chairs creates an authentic wave form.

Pulse Park:

For Pulse Park to work people must hold onto on a heartbeat monitor. As they grab the monitor their heart beat is recorded and the all lights in the park flash to the beat. When they let go the heartbeat moves onto a single light and joins the heartbeats of the person that used it before. This idea is a very simple yet very aesthetically pleasing and turns the interaction of the person into the art itself.
