The new brief I have received is for design for interaction. For this we are required to design an interactive project that looks into the way we interact with things such as a website, a game, a non-linear story or an interactive art-piece. We can also design for an interactive installation for a gallery, retail space or an educational learning zone although these would have to be created as an on-screen demonstration.
To create an idea I will first look into what interactivity is.
"Interactivity refers to the possibilities of an audience actively participating in the control of an artwork or representation"
Cameron.A (1995) 'Dissimulation, the illusion of interactivity', in Millennium FIlm Journal, special issue on Interactivity, no 28, spring.
Everyday we come across interaction, from human to human interaction to human to technology interaction. The way we use things is changing, products such as train ticket machines are embracing touch screen interaction. Mobile phones are becoming more interactive with the additions of maps and music. Interactivity also exists within video games, with new games boasting the most interactive environments ever and the way we are controlling games is becoming more interactive with the Nintendo Wii and the unreleased Project Natal by Xbox.
